Theatre Seminar ~Study of Next Generation Models~
In recent years, a variety of theaters, halls, and event spacesare being planned and opened throughout Japan, not only in Shibuya and other urban areas, but also in the public and private sectors. are being planned and are about to open.
What will the theater be like in 2030 and beyond?
And what will a city with a theater look like?
What will the theater be for the city, for society, for people's lives?
This seminar is planned and hosted by Theatre Workshop, which has been involved in the planning of more than 300 theaters throughout Japan, and will be a forum for those who "create" (municipalities and developers), "design" (designers and general contractors), and "use" (production companies, content holders, directors). Theatre Workshop will engage a cross-section of "builders" (municipalities and developers), "designers" (designers, general contractors), and "users" (production companies, content holders, directors, stage technicians) in discussion, and talk about community development with the theater at its center.
Vol. 0 Introduction Toward the 2030 Model Year
We began planning the online seminar during the first declaration of emergency in 2020, when the spread of the new coronavirus limited our ability to interact with many people face-to-face.
In the first Vol. 0, the kick-off of the seminar, as an introduction, we will discuss some of the new plans currently underway, some of the first issues for theater development toward 2030, and what we would like to think about in the seminars we are about to start. Masaji Ito, theater producer and president of Theatre Workshop, spoke about what he would like to think about in the seminar that is about to begin.
This was our first seminar combining online and in-person sessions, and we had audiences from all over the country as well as from overseas.
