Theatre Workshop has consistently hosted theatre seminars featuring invited guests.
This year, we are launching a new seminar series, "Ito-Juku," led by our representative, Masaji Ito.
With 50 years of experience in theatre architecture research and extensive involvement in theatre and performance spaces, Masaji Ito will lead each session, focusing on specific themes.
Building on research findings and practical insights, participants will engage in discussions to develop a new theatre model for the 2030s.
Message from Masaji Ito, Representative Director
This will be the final session.
It serves as both a summary of the past year and an opportunity to discuss future developments.
The creation of a theatre involves many people.
It starts with basic research, followed by construction planning, design, and building, along with management and operational plans, opening commemorative events, and ongoing operations. Eventually, planning for renovations takes place.
Experts contribute at each stage, but historically, the concepts developed during the planning, design, and construction phases have often failed to connect with the theatre's operational phase.
To address this, we at Theatre Workshop have been advocating for the concept of "Total-Theatre-Solution " and have continued our work based on this approach.
In this final session, we will facilitate a discussion between those involved in the construction of theatre spaces and those creating within them, as we reflect on the future of theatres.
