-This year's Tokyo Symphony Orchestra is a woodwind quintet
The woodwind quintet is a combination of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn.
As a matter of fact, only the horns are played in the brass quintet.
Actually, only the horn is a brass instrument, but many pieces have been written for this formation for a long time.
Because the five instruments are "different from each other in the way they produce sound", the great charm of the woodwind quintet is that the unique tones overlap and
are heard in a rich variety of colors.
