Theatre Workshop has consistently hosted theatre seminars featuring invited guests.
This year, we are launching a new seminar series, "Ito-Juku," led by our representative, Masaji Ito.
With 50 years of experience in theatre architecture research and extensive involvement in theatre and performance spaces, Masaji Ito will lead each session, focusing on specific themes.
Building on research findings and practical insights, participants will engage in discussions to develop a new theatre model for the 2030s.
Masaji Ito, Representative Director Message
I have been involved in theatre for 50 years—since first discovering school drama at Seijo Gakuen Elementary School, studying and researching theatre architecture at Waseda University, and founding Theatre Workshop 40 years ago.
Throughout this journey, I have learned from many predecessors and, together with my colleagues and juniors, have faced challenges, exchanged ideas, and pursued our vision of the ideal theatre.
There is still so much we want to achieve, and we will remain active in our work. However, we have decided that now is the right time to take a moment to pause and reflect.
Our goal is not merely to reflect on the past but to uncover insights for the next step and turn our dreams into reality.
"Ito-Juku" is scheduled to run for one year, consisting of 12 sessions.
Will you join us in shaping your theatre dreams?
We eagerly look forward to your participation.
