Theatre Workshop has consistently hosted theatre seminars featuring invited guests.
This year, we are launching a new seminar series, "Ito-Juku," led by our representative, Masaji Ito.
With 50 years of experience in theatre architecture research and extensive involvement in theatre and performance spaces, Masaji Ito will lead each session, focusing on specific themes.
Building on research findings and practical insights, participants will engage in discussions to develop a new theatre model for the 2030s.
Masaji Ito, Representative Director Message
The common desire and goal of humanity is to create a world where no one is left behind. Art serves as a universal language, with the performing arts in particular offering a powerful means of fostering empathy and mutual understanding through the shared act of creation.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, online viewing has become a lifeline, allowing performing arts to continue. With advancements in ultra-high-definition filming and telecommunication technology, it is now possible to enjoy live performances from the comfort of our homes or on personal digital devices.
The dream of a ‘world theatre’—where performances from all over the globe can be experienced anywhere—is now a reality.
If this is the case, then the opposite of this, the ‘one-person theatre,’ offers a rare luxury: an intimate space where you can experience the full depth and beauty of performing arts, all to yourself.
