Operation and architecture are closely related.
Our company began with consulting for theater design and construction, became involved in operation and management planning, and then established a department for facility operation to manage operations after the opening of the theater. Then, along with my joining the company, we launched the Content Business Promotion Office in 2018 as a department that responds to diverse requests, including the planning and production of independent projects to further enhance the uniqueness and independence of the facility. Currently renamed the Business Production Department, it is engaged in content planning for public and private/public facilities nationwide.
I am also involved in the work of the Theatre Consulting Department. Although architecture is not my area of expertise, I believe that my experience in operations is useful because operations and architecture are closely related.
I started my career at Wacoal Corp. I participated in the launch of Spiral, which was built in Omotesando, and rented out the hall for fashion shows and exhibitions. However, that alone was not enough to achieve the original goal of "fusion of lifestyle and culture," so I was engaged in independent projects to promote culture. For the first time in Japan, we introduced an artistic director system that rotated for one year, and asked people such as Makoto Sato of the Black Tent, Koichi Kimura of Shingeki, Yukio Ninagawa, Ushiro Tenji, and Nobusetsu Kotake to work on pioneering projects.
In 1995, I moved to the Tokyo International Forum Preparatory Office, where I was involved in the start-up of the Forum, including discussions with architects, selection of equipment, and setting rules for the rental of facilities. In addition to my own projects, I also experienced being in charge of sales for the rental of the building. Then, in 2017, I moved to a theater called Za Koenji, where I served as the director for one year.
