Theatre Seminar "Before the Curtain Rises" Vol.02

The new series of the Theatre Seminar "Before the Curtain Rises - Exploring the Theatre from Behind the Scenes of Creation" Vol. 02 will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at P.O. Minami-Aoyama Hall (Minato-ku, Tokyo) with Miho Nakai and Kazuhisa Tobe as the hosts. The event will be held at P.O. Minami-Aoyama Hall (Minato-ku, Tokyo) on April 10, 2026.

For Vol. 02, we are pleased to announce that the guest speaker will be Shuichiro Koike, a director and playwright who has created numerous high-profile productions with the Takarazuka Revue and other companies, and who won the Matsuo Performing Arts Award Grand Prize in 2026.

He will discuss the two-way relationship between "the theatre nurtures the work" and "the work nurtures the theatre," how the space of the theatre is utilized in the creative process, and how the challenges of the work have renewed the use of the theatre and the audience experience - how this relationship has deepened and developed. We will consider the future of the theatre, while clarifying how the space of the theatre has been utilized and how the challenges of productions have renewed the way the theatre is used and the audience experience.

This perspective will provide new hints not only for theatre professionals and stage producers, but also for theatre fans and those involved in theatre architecture and urban development.
